Carbon Fiber Sousaphone

We are proud to present our latest project, a new sousaphone that represents a true breakthrough in innovation. After several years of discussion and development, this instrument has been brought to life by four passionate individuals: François & Guillaume Coste, Jérôme Wiss, and Christian Bosc. Each has contributed their expertise and know-how, making this a rich and rewarding human and technical adventure.

This Made-in-France sousaphone is a true concentration of innovation, proving that when skills and talents come together, anything is possible. Here are some of the key features that make this model unique:

• Carbon Fiber: A world-first for an instrument of this size, with over half of the main bore crafted from carbon fiber. This high-performance material, used in prestigious sectors such as aerospace and extreme sports, provides unparalleled structural rigidity. The advanced techniques used to craft the carbon tubes allow for precise control over the instrument’s geometry and, consequently, the sound it produces.

• Weight Reduction: With allmost 50% weight reduction compared to a traditional brass sousaphone, this model represents a revolution in terms of lightness. It allows musicians to play with optimal comfort and without the concern of back fatigue, even during long performances.

• 3-Valve and Thumb Rotor System: This sousaphone features an innovative system with three valves and a thumb rotor. This mechanical design was chosen to enhance ease of playing and improve ergonomics. The rotor positioned at the thumb optimizes the instrument’s ergonomics, offering a more natural and compact grip.

• A Specially Designed Rotor: The rotor in this instrument was specifically developed by Christian Bosc. Its innovative design and unique lubrication system make it lightweight and compact, while being perfectly suited to the 19mm bore. Its maintenance is incredibly simple.

• Valves: With an 18mm bore and high-precision machining, these valves provide optimal compression and flawless sound production. Made from stainless steel, they are designed to withstand wear and ensure a long-lasting instrument.

We would like to extend our thanks to the many professional musicians who shared their feedback and ideas about current sousaphones, particularly regarding sound projection and tuning issues. Their suggestions were instrumental in refining our instrument, and every musician who advised us has a part in the success of this carbon sousaphone. We are excited to introduce this unique model to you, combining tradition and innovation to offer an unparalleled musical experience.
